There are a number of potential issues that could keep you from correctly installing the software. This page outlines common causes.
Desktop Software Says, "No additional applications designed for your device were found"
This problem exists when the software on device and BlackBerry desktop software are out of sync. The solution is to update your software via your carrier. This is not a problem with our software. You can either:
- Update the Device and Desktop software. Choose your provider here.
- Install via the BlackBerry's Browser. Navigate to http://www.infinitysw.com/ota on your device and select the "BlackBerry Browser Install" button.
Selected Wrong Download Button
Did you accidentally select the "BlackBerry Browser Install" when installing through the BlackBerry Desktop software? Or did you accidentally select "BlackBerry Desktop Install" when trying to install directly to the device?
Make sure you install the correct version using the correct method. To install through the BlackBerry Browser directly to your device, select the button labeled "BlackBerry Browser Install." To install with BlackBerry Desktop, download the .zip file by selecting "BlackBerry Desktop Install."
Zip File Not Unzipped
Did you actually unzip the downloaded zip file? Double-clicking a zip file does not mean it has been unzipped -- it means you are looking at the contents of the zip file.
With Windows XP or Vista, right mouse click on the zip file and choose "Extract All..." to unzip the file.
With other operating system versions, you will need an unzip program such as StuffIt Expander, a free application from Aladdin Systems. Once StuffIt Expander is installed, run the application then drag-and-drop the .zip file on top of Expander. It will extract to the same folder as the original zip file.
Older BlackBerry OS Version
Does your device have OS version 4.1 or later? To check, go to About in Options. The operating system version is listed on the third line and will look something like this:
v4.2.0.64 (Platform 2.2.0.37)
Many of the devices can have the operating system upgraded. That upgrade will be available from your wireless carrier's web site.
Older Desktop Version
Is the BlackBerry Desktop software version 4.1 or later? To check, run the Desktop software and choose About from the Help menu. You have two options:
- It is possible that your BlackBerry Desktop software can be upgraded. That upgrade would be available from your wireless carrier's web site.
- Use the BlackBerry Browser to download and install the software.
