Installing Software - Palm OS Devices
Infinity Softworks offers both executable (.exe) installers for those who synchronize with Windows computers and archives (.zip) for those who synchronize with Macintosh or Linux computers.
- Place the Palm OS handheld device in the cradle.
- Save the application file to your computer. REMEMBER THE SAVE LOCATION.
- Navigate to that location and double-click on the installer.
- Follow the installation instructions, installing both the powerOne software and Pack as applicable.
- Synchronize your device.
Note: the manual installs to the Start->Programs menu under the product name.
- Place the Palm OS handheld device in the cradle.
- Save the application file to your computer. REMEMBER THE SAVE LOCATION.
- Unzip/unstuff the file. If your computer does not include an unzip application, two options are WinZip and StuffIt Expander.
- Double-click on the folder. It should appear in the same folder as the archived file.
- Double-click the "Pack.pdb" file.
- Double-click on the "PalmOS" folder.
- Double-click on each file ending in '.prc' or '.pdb'. Double-clicking a file should start the Palm OS Install Tool.
- Close the Install Tool and synchronize your Palm OS device.
- Is Palm OS Desktop installed? To install, see the CD-ROM that came with your handheld computer. If you have Palm OS Desktop installation problems, contact your device manufacturer.
- Are you using Palm Desktop on Windows Vista? Click here to download an updated version of Palm Desktop that will sync Palm applications to your device.
- Can you synchronize your handheld computer? Make sure your cradle is connected to the desktop/laptop computer. If you cannot synchronize, contact your device manufacturer.
- Did the installer run without error? If not, try again. If it fails a second time, contact Infinity Softworks with an exact description of the problem.
- Did you install to the correct user (HotSync) name? It is possible to synchronize multiple handhelds with the same desktop/laptop computer. To fix, re-install the software to the correct HotSync name.
- Did you synchronize your handheld computer after the installation process? If not, synchronize now.
- Is there a message in the HotSync log? Select the "Log" button at the bottom of the HotSync application on your Palm OS handheld computer.
- Do you have enough memory available on your handheld? To see how much memory the Infinity Softworks application uses, see the product page. To check your device's available memory:
- Go to the Home screen.
- Select the menu button below the Home button or select the time (title bar) at the top of the screen.
- Choose "Info" from the App menu.
- See the available memory near the top of the screen. Most displays show memory in megabytes (M or MB) while many applications are noted in kilobytes (K or KB). 1 MB is approximately equal to 1000 KB.
- Are you looking in the right category? Go the Home screen and change the category in the top, right-hand corner to "All". Scroll down to see if the application is there. They are listed in alphabetical order.
