Installing Templates
Infinity Softworks' powerOne products are expandable, offering add-on calculation templates. This page includes installation instructions. Templates end in ".pdb" and can be read by Palm OS, Pocket PC and Windows versions of the software.
- Place the device in the cradle and make sure it is connected to your computer.
- Save the template file to your desktop/laptop computer. REMEMBER THE SAVE LOCATION.
- On the desktop computer, double-click the file's icon.
- If the file is an executable (.exe), double-click and follow the on-screen directions.
- If the file is zipped (.zip), use an unzip utility like WinZip or StuffIt Expander to extract
the file first. Open that folder to find the template files ending in .prc or .pdb. Move to the next bullet.
- If the file ends in .pdb, double-click to run the Palm OS Install Tool. Once all
files are installed, close the Install Tool and move to the next step.
- Synchronize your Palm OS handheld computer.
- Run the powerOne application. A question should appear asking what to do with the template(s):
- Choose "Import" to import the template(s).
- Choose "Delete" to delete the file from the device without installing.
- Choose "Ignore" to ignore the file (neither import nor delete).
- Check the template category on the template list or bar for the imported template.
For importing from a memory card, Infinity Softworks recommends copying the template to your device's main memory then running the application.
- Place the device in the cradle and make sure it is connected to your computer.
- Save the template file to your desktop/laptop computer. REMEMBER THE SAVE LOCATION.
- On the desktop computer:
- If the file is a .pdb file, skip to the next step.
- If the file is an executable (.exe), double-click and follow the on-screen directions.
- If the file is zipped (.zip), use an unzip utility like WinZip to extract the file first.
- Click the 'Explore' icon on Microsoft ActiveSync to open the file explorer
view of the device, open the 'powerOne' folder and copy the template (.pdb) file to this location.
- Start the powerOne application on your Pocket PC device.
- Check the template category on the template list or bar for the imported template.
- Save the template file to your desktop/laptop computer. REMEMBER THE SAVE LOCATION.
- On the desktop computer:
- If the file is an executable (.exe), double-click and follow the on-screen directions.
- If the file is zipped (.zip), use an unzip utility like WinZip to extract the file first.
- Start the powerOne application on your Windows computer.
- Drag the files onto the powerOne application and let go. The template will install automatically.
- Check the template category on the template list or bar for the imported template.
- Is Palm OS Desktop or ActiveSync installed (for handheld versions only)? To install, see the CD-ROM that came with your handheld computer. If you have installation problems, contact your device manufacturer.
- Can you synchronize your handheld computer (for handheld versions only)? Make sure your cradle is connected to the desktop/laptop computer. If you cannot synchronize, contact your device manufacturer.
- Did the installer run without error if an executable version is available? If not, try again. If it fails a second time, contact Infinity Softworks with an exact description of the problem.
- Did you install to the correct user (HotSync) name (Palm OS only)? It is possible to synchronize multiple handhelds with the same desktop/laptop computer. To fix, re-install the software to the correct HotSync name.
- Did you synchronize your handheld computer after the installation process (handheld versions only)? If not, synchronize now.
- Is there a message in the HotSync log (Palm OS only)? Select the "Log" button at the bottom of the HotSync application on your Palm OS handheld computer.
- Do you have enough memory available on your handheld? To see how much memory the Infinity Softworks application uses, see the product page.
- Are you looking in the right template category?
- Will the template run on the current version of the application? Check the software version number in the About powerOne screen and the template's requirements in the Add-Ons Collection.
